Whether knitting needles, a paintbrush, linoleum cutters, a pencil, a needle and thread, or even a computer mouse, my hands are always creating something. While one would think that someone like that was always bound for a creative career, I avoided it for quite a while. After some time in the International Development Program at Carleton University, my need for creativity and variation in my day to day life became too evident to ignore. A few months later, I found myself sitting in my first day of orientation for the Interior Decorating Program at Algonquin College. It did not take long to discover that this was the career I wanted to pursue. After graduating with Honours and an Award of Excellence from the program, I got my start in the industry and the rest is history. One of my favourite quotes is “A designer is a planner with an aesthetic sense”. Anyone who knows me knows that quote sums me up almost perfectly. I believe that the happiest people know their own strengths and use them to enhance the lives of others.
